They heat water instantaneously as it flows through the unit. Stand-by losses are completely eliminated. The heating elements are controlled by a flow switch and by an exclusive scald-guard thermostat, which keeps the water temperature within safe limits at all times. In addition, the DHC water heaters are equipped with a safety high-limit with manual reset. The rugged all copper design ensures many years of reliable service. The models DHC 3-1,DHC 3-2 and DHC 4-2 are shipped with 0.5 GPM pressure compensating flow reducer / aerators that fit on most faucets. Flow controls and faucet aerators are highly recommended in conjunction with tankless water heaters. | This product is also available with different Voltages and Wattages. |---|
- Stiebel Eltron Tankless Water heaters come in different voltages (separate models - Voltage: 120V - 208V - 240V - 277V).
- Voltage = Power consumption by the unit. The higher the voltage the more heat the unit can deliver. In the USA,installers often install the 120V unit hard wired to deliver 240V (depending on availability of power source).
- Units with 208V are designed for Commercial and/or Office Buildings. The power source in the USA for Commercial buildings is different than Residential; the units hard wired in this case can only deliver 208V. Units operating at 120V are also available for Commercial use. All units running on 120V will have a temperature rise vs. flow rate lower than the other units.
- Please refer to the resources above and check out the temperature rise chart. Basically the bigger the unit and the more GPM (gallons per minute) it will run through will mean LOWER temperature rise. For example model Stiebel Eltron DHC 10-2 heater is a 2 GPM unit. Because of its high GPM capacity it MUST be hard wired for Commercial and Residential use. Thus the unit will run at 240V Residential and 208V Commercial.
- The water temperature rise chart calculated at 240V shows that when the unit delivers 2 GPM from the faucet, the max temperature rise above ambient water temperature will be approx 33F. But when this unit delivers 0.75 GPM (means the faucet is not fully open) the max temperature rise above ambient water temperature will be almost 90F. So if ambient water temperature is 35F and the unit has a demand output of 0.75 GPM the water temperature out of the faucet will be approx 125F.
- The 277V units are only for specific installations, please refer to the documentation above.
